This webpage lists all of the EHS training by program area.  They can be searched using a specific term or filtered by program.  Click on the course name to open the description.  The narratives explain who needs to take the training, if it is required or recommended, If it is a one-time training or needs to be taken more than once, the format of the training, and provides a link to the training and program webpage.

Hazard Communication (HazCom)

Hazard Communication (HazCom) Training

This is a one-time required training for employees who use hazardous chemicals.  This training is intended for non-laboratory personnel. This program applies to all non-laboratory work areas that utilize hazardous chemicals including, but not limited to, machine shops, maintenance shops, garage areas and janitorial/custodial storage areas.  Topics covered include labeling systems, Safety Data Sheets, chemical hazards, and safe work practices. 

This is considered Part 1 of HazCom training.  Part 2 (work group specific HazCom training) will be provided by your supervisor.

NOTE:

  • Chemical use in laboratories is covered by the PSU Laboratory & Research Safety Plan. Work areas/labs currently operating under the PSU Laboratory & Research Safety Plan are exempt from the requirements of this program.

 

LRN Online Course Hazard Communication (HazCom) Program

Hazard Communication Supervisor Training

This instructor-led training is intended for supervisors/managers who have been tasked with providing Hazard Communication training to their employees. This training is a one-time requirement and is intended for non-laboratory supervisors. This program applies to all non-laboratory work areas that utilize hazardous chemicals including, but not limited to, machine shops, maintenance shops, garage areas and janitorial/custodial storage areas.

 The training consists of a review of the Hazard Communication PowerPoint presentation pertaining to the specific work group/site.  The training will provide the participants with a clear understanding of how to edit the presentation to include their site-specific information.

NOTE:

TRAINING IS AVAILABLE UPON REQUEST. THERE ARE NO REGULARLY SCHEDULED CLASSES FOR THIS TRAINING COURSE.
