The purpose of the Laser Safety program is to protect Penn State personnel from the hazards of lasers while encouraging their safe use for research and teaching. A brief program overview for laser supervisor and users is available.

Services Offered

  • Training
  • Maintaining inventory of class 3b and class 4 lasers
  • Evaluating and controlling laser hazards
  • Providing oversight and guidance in the safe use of lasers
  • Conducting audits of supervisor self-laser safety inspections
  • Assisting in laser accident investigations
  • Approving laser tag and laser light shows
